A newly formed organisation operating under the name “Youths with a Vision” has announced that it will start giving out K20 million grants to youths who are ready to venture into enterpreneurship.
Youth with a Vision Director, Japhet Majeke has made the announcement Monday in Lilongwe during the launch of the organisation.
Speaking during the launch, Majeke said the organisation has been launched to help youths in the country become self-reliant through entrepreneurship and mindset change.
He said through various initiatives that the organisation will undertake, youths, especially those in Lilongwe will have an opportunity to undergo mentorship programmes that will help them become self-reliant.
“Our organisation is here to help youths understand that they are in charge of their destiny,” he said.
He said the organisation will focus on entrepreneurship, vocational training and agribusiness development to help young people create sustainable livelihoods.
“We are very committed to equip our youth with necessary skills and mindset to drive change in their communities,” said Majeke.
The director added that youths, who will form business groups, will be the first to benefit from the programme.
“Currently, the programme is targeting youths from Lilongwe, but plans are there to expand our reach soon,” he added.
Elliott Tandani, a Lilongwe-based youth, who attended the launch of the organisation, has expressed excitement with the initiative.
“As a youth, who is very eager to venture into entrepreneurship, I am happy with the coming in of this initiative,” said Tandani.
The grant initiative is being supported by a Lilongwe-based company called Superior Fertilizers.
