Malawian multi-award-winning innovator Innocent Mandili has been selected to showcase his “Thermo El Stove” at this year’s International Association for Impact Assessment South Africa (IAIASA) annual conference in Western Cape, South Africa, from August 25-28, 2026.
Mandili, founder and director of MI Technology and Innovations, said the invitation is a huge milestone.
“I am really happy and humbled to share that I have been selected as one of the innovators to present my invention at this year’s conference,” Mandili said.
The stove, previously covered by ProjectM, uses briquettes and a small amount of grass to produce energy for cooking while generating electricity stored in a power bank for later use.
“My invention was selected for its ability to reverse environmental degradation affecting countries across Africa,” he said.
IAIASA said presenters were chosen for developing innovations focused on environmental management, environmental, social and governance standards, and artificial intelligence.
“These are individuals providing viable solutions in an era of complex disruption,” the organisation said on its website.
The conference will run under the theme “Cultivating ecological intelligence as a pathway to better decisions.”
