Lake Of Stars Returns To Nkhotakota

The Lake of Stars Festival is set to return to Nkhotakota’s Fish Eagle Bay Lodge from October 17-19 with a focus on sustainability, music and tourism.

According to Sharmila Elias Taijala, the festival organiser, the event has become a catalyst for economic growth, cultural exchange, and sustainable tourism in Nkhotakota.

“We have learned from the previous event and we are working to make this year’s festival even more impactful,” said Wongani Mkandawire, Spokesperson for Nkhotakota District Council.

The council has rehabilitated access roads and sensitised communities on the importance of supporting the event.

The festival’s economic impact is significant, with local businesses and communities benefiting from increased tourism and economic activity.

“It’s a win for us. We sell our products instantly, and sometimes visitors offer prices for themselves,” said Fellowship Chimpeni, a shop owner at Sani Trading Centre.

The festival will feature a lineup of homegrown talent, including the internationally acclaimed Madalitso Band and Ntchisi’s own Driemo.

This year’s edition will also prioritise sustainability, with solar-powered stages, eco-conscious lighting, and improved waste management.

As the festival returns to Nkhotakota, the community is eagerly anticipating economic benefits and cultural exchange.

With its focus on sustainability and local talent, the Lake of Stars Festival is set to be an unforgettable experience.
