Beit Cure Charity Golf For Children Surgeries

In a vibrant display of sport, generosity, and community spirit, the Beit Cure International Children’s Hospital hosted its annual charity golf tournament on sunday at Country Club Limbe, drawing golfers and supporters from across Malawi.

The tournament is part of the hospital’s ongoing fundraising efforts to raise K290 million, aimed at providing 2,300 free orthopedic surgeries for children under the age of 18 this year.

The event, which has become a highlight on the charity sports calendar, attracted 23 golf teams, all rallying behind Beit Cure’s mission to provide life-changing medical care to children in need.

The hospital, which has been in operation for 23 years, has already performed over 36,000 surgeries, and continues to lead in pediatric orthopedic treatment and professional healthcare training.

After a fiercely contested day on the greens, United General Insurance’s team of Teri Amaro and Kingsley Mhango emerged as the overall winners, clinching the title with an impressive 52 points.

“It’s an honour to win today, but more importantly, it’s a privilege to contribute to such a noble cause,” said Amaro after receiving the award.

Team NBS Bank 6, composed of Gracious Changaya and Asante Makuta, followed closely with 50 points, while Team Cfao, represented by Richard Chilipa and Rose Pindani, settled for third place.

In the women’s category, former boxer-turned-golfer Agness Mtimaukanena won the Nearest-to-Pin Award, while Zittah Rodrick claimed the Longest Drive prize.

The men’s individual awards went to David Rodrick, who won the Nearest-to-Pin, and Gracious Changaya, who took home the Longest Drive title, his second accolade of the day.

More than just a competitive outing, the tournament was a strong show of support for Beit Cure’s mission, to provide high-quality, free orthopedic surgeries to children with physical disabilities who would otherwise lack access to specialised care.
