US’s Malawi Mission Network Holds AGM

The Malawi’s High Commission to the United States of America Her Excellency Justice Esme Chombo has underlined the need for Christians to love each other.

Justice Chombo has also underscored the need for the faith community to work towards uplifting women in line with their development.

Chombo made the remarks through a keynote address she delivered Friday at Loveland, Colorado in the United States of America during an annual meeting for Malawi Mission Network (MMN).

Formed in 2003, MMN is a Christian community of individuals, organisations and churches related to the Presbyterian Church (USA) and its mission partners in Malawi.

Addressing the gathering, Chombo described herself as a product of a community which believed in her capabilities as a woman.

“As we continue working together through various mission works, we should also always remember to give our life serve others,” she said.

Chombo then called on the MMN community to join her in her quest to uplift girls and women in Malawi.

“I am always passionate about enabling young girls to believe that they can be and do anything, using myself as an example,” said Chombo.

Speaking on behalf of the Presbyterian churches in Malawi, Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Synod of Livingstonia General Secretary Reverend William Tembo hailed MMN, saying since its formation, it has transformed a lot of lives physically and spiritually.

“We are always grateful for the solid partnership that exists between our Presbyterian churches in Malawi and the US because through this partnership, we have achieved a lot,” said Tembo.

During this year’s annual conference, delegates prayed together, shared fellowship, news and knowledge about partnerships and ministries in Malawi.

Delegates also had an opportunity to strategise on how they can work together to continue implementing various charity works, including the installation of water wells to provide clean water to hundreds of Malawian households.
