Malawian amapiano artist, Temwah has won this year’s Zikomo Africa Awards rising star of the year.
Temwa was nominated in two categories which include Best Performing Artist and Best Zikomo Rising Star.
The “Ndiri Kuti” hit-maker was nominated alongside artists from DRC, South Africa, Ghana and Zambia.
The Zikomo Africa Awards 2024 took place on November 23, 2024 in Lusaka and had artists from countries like DRC, South Africa, Ghana and Zambia who were also nominated for the awards.
Zikomo awards was launched to acknowledge and celebrate individuals and organisations who contribute positively and are doing well in various industries like Arts and Entrepreneurship.
The Zikomo Awards also recognises Humanitarians who are contributing well by helping the needy in different communities.
Temwa Gondwe, widely recognised by her stage name Temwah, is also a prominent Malawian afro-jazz singer and songwriter.
Last year she also won Maso Awards Best Female Artist of the Year and also the MBC Female Secular Artist of the Year.
Apart from being an artist, she also champions an organisation called he Matters Foundation.
The organisation is dedicated to nurturing, unlocking the full potential and educating boys, modern men of substance, with self-confidence, mental health, entrepreneurial skills among others.
