TAY GRIN REPRESENTS MALAWI AT ZAMBIA’S FASHION EXPO

Malawi’s top Hip Hop artist Tay Grin on Sunday successfully represented the country when he showed up and participated at this year’s Lusaka-July fashion exhibition in Zambia. 

Lusaka-July is one of Zambia’s biggest annual social events which blends fashion with equestrian sport. 

Zambia organised the Lusaka-July inaugural in 2016 under the theme “Polo-Glam”.This year the glamourous event took place on Sunday at the Lusaka Polo Club. As the time ticked 13:00pm, fans started catching the glimpse of the fabulous copper carpet arrival of celebrities, including Malawi’s Tay Grin.

Other celebrity guests who attended the occasion, which was also dubbed ‘Africa’s biggest day of fashion’, were Nonku Williams, the star in ‘The Real Housewives of Durban’ and Luis Munana from Namibia.

The amazing action was captured and broadcast live on Crown TV Zambia and Diamond Media Zambia, the official partners of the Lusaka-July 2024.

Fresh from his ‘Grin Fire Friday’ event held at Blantyre’s Blue Elephant Pub, Tay Grin did not disappoint at Lusaka-July but to represent Malawi flawlessly with a dazzling outfit and swagger. He was accompanied by Esther Sagawa, the Mayor of Lilongwe City, who also spotted trendily and represented Malawi well. 

Among other renowned fashion designers, Lusaka-July had great exhibitors in the region of Imprint from South Africa, Zambia’s Esnoko by Chiz and Zargue’si from Zimbabwe. 

The nineth edition was held under the theme, “Lusaka July 2024: Stars in the Land of Copper”. And indeed, the African stars sparked and mingled in unity in the land of copper.  

Tay Grin described Lusaka-July as a great opportunity for wonderful networking and business collaborations.

 “Lusaka-July holds a special, full circle significance for me. It was here that I first connected with noteworthy talents like Yo Maps, Mutale Mwanza and Tio Tembo, individuals whom I have built meaningful collaborations across music, content creation and now fashion,” said Tay Grin.

He added that the outfit, which he wore for the event spoke volumes of Malawi-Zambia relationship.

“The King’s outfit is not just a statement of style. It symbolises the journey of great collaboration and progress that I have shared with my Zambian counterparts. Lusaka-July is more than a fashion event. It’s a powerful platform where creators come together to forge partnerships that endure,” he said.

Tay Grin said he was honoured to have participated at the glamorous event together with Esther Sagawa, the Mayor of Lilongwe City.

He said: “My hope is to foster new partnerships that will bring events of similar prestige to Malawi, elevating both our creative industries and cultural diplomacy.”
