Organisation Donates School Bags in Chikwawa

In a quest to improve academic growth, a Chikwawa-based organisation, Community Focus (COFO) has donated school bags to 112 learners from Mantchombe Primary School in the district.

COFO says the donation has been made under a special sponsorship initiative being championed by the organisation.

Joshua Malunga, the organisation’s Executive Director said through the donation, the organisation hopes to uplift the spirits of learners to improve.

“We are obviously excited mainly because this donation has been received with excitement among the learners and we hope this will be the beginning of a new chapter for them academically,” he said.

Apart from the donation, the organisation also took time to civic educate the learners about the dangers of engaging in practices that may derail their academic journey.

“For us, it’s not only giving the learners material assistance but also knowledge that may carry them forward,” said Malunga.

He said the organisation would continue monitoring the performance of learners who are under its sponsorship initiative.

“We are hoping that this initiative will create a bubble in which intelligent learners will emerge from,” he added.

One of the learners, who opted for anonymity hailed COFO, describing the donation as timely.

“These bags have also come at the right time as we are approaching the rainy season, a time such bags become very important,” she said.
