Malawi’s renowned Afro beat Artist Armstrong Kalua popularly, known as Onesimus by his showbiz name, has been nominated for the MVAA Awards in the best song category for his controller song.
The Music Video Africa Awards (MVAA) is an innovative platform dedicated to recognizing ands honouring exceptional talent within the African music video.
The Malawian star has been nominated alongside Zambian popular musician, Yo Maps.
The award come barely days after he best male artist in the Hollywood and African Award (Hapa) in a ceremony that took place Tanzania where he emerged victorious from talents such Harmonize and Kcee.
Speaking in an interview, Onesimus expressed his gratitude and excitement for the nomination.
“I want to say thank you for your support, we have two international wards so this year and i have also been nominated for MVAA song of the year for my song Controller,” he said.
Earlier this year, he also won another award in Best Male Artist in All African Music Award (AFRIMA) awards, becoming the first Malawian to win such an award.
In May this year, his song “controller” became the first Malawian song to hit 100 million views on Tik Tok with popular musicians like Psquare vibing to the song.
The song has also been trending on Spotify with 191,00 monthly listeners.
