Malawi’s sensational Afro-beat artist Onesimus is determined to export Malawian and African creativity to the global music market.
He demonstrated this on Sunday night at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre when he successfully unveiled a remix of his hit song ‘Controller’ which features Nigeria’s Joeboy and DJ Edu.
To confirm its controlling power, the video garnered over 200,000 views on YouTube a few hours after its release.
The video’s watch party attracted an impressive audience at the exquisite Stakeout Bar, a move which left both Onesimus and his manager Tonderai Banda radiating with confidence.
“The mission is real and unstoppable because we are destined for greatness. The destination is worldwide and the journey starts now,” said Tonderai.
Meanwhile, Onesimus said he was networking with other African artists to spearhead the global music mission.
“African music is butter. And the international music audience needs this butter now,” declared Onesimus who is also popularly known as African Butter.
He added that with networking and hard work it was possible to propel Malawi and Africa to the international music market.
“Everything is possible and we are going to make it. This is time for Africa to come together in order to shine as one. Africa, Asia, Europe and America let’s come together to celebrate African music,” he said.
Apart from working on the Controller remix, Onesimus has bagged three African music awards this year to prove his potential to represent the country at the African and global stages.
The awards include 2024 Song of the Year in Nigeria’s 2024 Music Video Africa Awards (MVAA), 2024 Best Male Artist in the Shining Star Africa Awards and 2024 Best Male Artist in Hollywood and African (HAPA) Awards.
