Official sponsor of Malawi Netball Team, Nico Holding Limited has hailed the Queens for winning Netball Africa Cup bronze after beating Namibia to finish on third position.
The victory was an icing on the cake following their Netball World Cup qualification after qualifying for the semi-finals.
Nico Holdings Limited, through Nico One brand sponsorship, gave the Queens a hearty send off on their departure from Blantyre to Kenya to inspire them to do well.
The firm expressed its gratitude through a message posted on its Facebook Page.
Reads the message in part: “BRONZE MEDAL FOR THE QUEENS!
What a way to finish! The Malawi Queens have defeated Namibia 50–45 in Kenya to secure the Bronze Medal at the Africa Netball Cup.
From qualifying for the 2027 Netball World Cup to bringing home a bronze medal, the Queens have given Malawi plenty to celebrate.
“We are proud of this team, their resilience, determination and progress throughout the competition. Congratulations, Queens! You have made us proud. Tili Pambuyo Pa Ma Queens! Sydney 2027 woyeee! [We are behind you the Queens! Sydney 2027 here we come.”
Another congratulatory message applauded the team with achieving its mission.
“The Malawi Queens came to Nairobi with one objective: secure their place at the 2027 Netball World Cup. They are leaving with a World Cup ticket 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗲. Three straight wins opened the campaign.
Uganda handed them their first defeat by just five goals.
“South Africa ended their run to the final, but Malawi put 46 past the African champions — the 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, while holding them to their 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻. And then came one final assignment. 𝟱𝟬–𝟰𝟱 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗮. From the opening whistle against Zambia to the final whistle against Namibia, this team fought, responded, qualified and finished on the podium.”
Assistant coach Peace Kalua said the players have accomplished the mission.
“Having failed to reach the final, winning bronze was no option. We just had to do it. We are impressed with progress of the team building project.”
