Musician Rashley Gets Support After Emotional Apology

Malawi’s music sensation Rashley is on a steady comeback trail as his career takes a sharp turn for the better with back-to-back major announcements positioning him at the centre of the country’s entertainment scene.

The organisers of the UMP Festival confirmed that Rashley will be among the star-studded lineup at this year’s event, scheduled for October 21–27 in Mangochi.

International artists from at least three countries are expected to headline, but organisers say local talent such as Rashley will equally light up the stage.

The announcement also comes hot on the heels of Rashley’s latest single Lakwira, which has already racked up over 90,000 views within three days of its release.

Adding to his winning streak, the Ministry of Tourism has also roped in Rashley to perform the official “Song of the Month,” an initiative designed to promote tourism activities throughout September.

Minister of Tourism Vera Kamtukule praised the singer, saying: “We chose Rashley because he is a high-calibre artist who can execute this assignment with great professionalism.”

She further revealed that the initiative has secured K1 million in donor support to ensure its success.

For Rashley, this recognition could not have come at a better time. He recently issued a heartfelt apology to Malawians over some missteps in his past, vowing to rebuild his career and regain the trust of fans.

“I want my music journey to flow again like it used to,” said Rashley.

On his Facebook page, the singer further expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from fans.

The post he wrote: “Everything I do is not only for me but also my family so that I can provide for them. So, thank you so much for the love and kind messages since yesterday. I am very grateful and my spirit is lifted. Opening up is not weakness but strength. God bless you all. I promise to give you the best music soon. I’m motivated.”

With fresh momentum, industry support and a growing fan base, Rashley seems ready to reclaim his spot as one of Malawi’s top performers.
