Musician Praise Umali Set to Release Album

Award-winning Malawian singer and songwriter Praise Umali is gearing up to release his third studio album titled Twenty Somethings with the project expected to drop any day this July.

Twenty Somethings follows the success of Umali’s previous albums, September (2021) and What We Become (2024), both of which received critical acclaim for their introspective songwriting and contemporary sound.

The 2024 album made waves across digital platforms, earning millions of streams and reinforcing Umali’s position as one of Malawi’s most promising contemporary voices.

Speaking in an interview with ProjectM, Umali described Twenty Somethings as a deeply personal and reflective body of work.

“This album is about the chaos and beauty of your twenties—the pressure to figure things out, love, heartbreaks, the wins, the setbacks, and the self-discovery along the way,” he said.

According to the artist, the album blends various genres and styles, aiming to capture the emotional rollercoaster of young adulthood in today’s world.

“I wanted to make something that speaks to what it feels like to be in this season of life, where you’re constantly questioning yourself, chasing dreams, making mistakes, and learning who you really are.” he said.

To celebrate the album’s release, Praise Umali has announced a special live concert dubbed The August Live Experience.

The event will feature South African vocal powerhouse Amanda Black and is scheduled to take place on August 16, 2025 at the Bingu International Conference Center (BICC) in Lilongwe.

Event organisers have confirmed that tickets for the show are already on sale via Kwenda.co, with physical tickets available at Cocos (Gateway Mall and Area 43), Café 92, and Stakeout in Blantyre.

Music fans could not help it but take it to social media to express their excitement for both the album and the upcoming concert, with many hailing it as one of the most anticipated events of the year in Malawi’s entertainment calendar.
