In a bid to promote the spirit of investment and self-reliance among the youth, a Lilongwe-based youthful entrepreneur, Sothini Shaba has organised a special function targeting youth who are ready to venture into entrepreneurship.
The function will be held on 27 July 2025 at Mvama CCAP in Lilongwe under the theme “Understanding Entrepreneurship and Innovation Through Emerging Technologies”.
Speaking in an interview with ProjectM, Shaba said he has decided to organise the function to help people understand entrepreneurship and how technology has changed through the centuries.
“So, the goal is to help the youth understand what entrepreneurship is all about and how they can use technology to help in launching a successful entrepreneurship journey,” he said.
He said participants at the function will have an opportunity to delve into history and learn how other people used technology and innovation to become successful entrepreneurs.
“We are going to go back as far as the 17th century, explaining how industrialisation has shaped other countries and helped individuals to become successful entrepreneurs,” said Shaba.
Shaba, who is the co-founder of Veda Honey Products, Meapoce Company and Harmony Hikers and Aerobics, has also invited experts to impart participants with knowledge on company registration and tax.
“We have also invited several youthful entrepreneurs who are going to share their successful stories and steps they went through to achieve greatness,” he added.
Laston Banda, an aspiring entrepreneur from Area 25 has since expressed excitement with the initiative, saying he is eager to attend.
“It is our opportunity as the youth to share notes and understand how our colleagues are achieving success,” he said.
