GoGreen Turns Waste into Wealth

In a bid to tackle plastic pollution and promote sustainable living, a young entrepreneur has launched GoGreen, a innovative venture that transforms discarded plastic packaging into durable, stylish bags.

Moses Kamchedzera, 29, is the founder of GoGreen, which is on a mission to recycle 4 tonnes of waste per month by June this year.

The initiative involves collecting plastic waste from the community, including packets of soya pieces, sugar, washing powder, snacks, and more, and crafting them into reusable bags.

“Sanitation is more than just keeping the streets clean. It’s about creating opportunities. I believe that waste isn’t just something to throw away, but something people can collect, sell, and see transformed into something useful,” says Kamchezera.

Kamchezera believes that GoGreen is not only reducing plastic pollution but also promoting sustainable living and creating new opportunities for the community. The initiative is encouraging people to make the right choice and choose eco-friendly products.

The inspiration for GoGreen came from the increasing rates of plastic pollution in Malawi, with limited public infrastructure to manage waste.

“It’s high time that we as young people right and bring a solution,” Kamchedzera says.

Environmental activist Maloto Chikombero welcomes the initiative, saying, this is a step in the right direction.

He said there is a need for more people to take responsibility for their environment by turning waste into something useful.
