EUROPEAN UNION FILM FESTIVAL RETURNS IN MALAWI FOR 5TH EDITION

The 5th European Union Film Festival in Malawi is just around the corner, promising an exciting showcase of diverse films.

The organisers Lake of Stars Malawi, have planned a captivating event that highlights the creativity of Malawian filmmakers.

“This year’s festival promises to be another diverse and enchanting film experience of storytelling, drama, epic action and true-life documentaries,” reads a statement from Lake of Stars.

Tasha Kamtande, Director of Ceremonies for Tumaini Festival at Dzaleka Camp, expressed her enthusiasm for the festival.

“For Tumaini Festival to host the final movie spree, it’s encouraging. Such platforms provide skills and expertise that can nurture talent and promote cultural diversity.”

Kamtande emphasised the importance of unity and learning through these events.

She said: “Apart from strengthening unity, this offers a diverse learning platform in areas like agriculture. People from different backgrounds interact, share ideas, and learn from each other.”

The festival has grown significantly since its launch in 2018, attracting over 500 patrons in Lilongwe and Blantyre in 2022.

This year’s edition kicks off with a launch at the EU Residence in Lilongwe on October 24, 2024.
