Malawian singer and songwriter Emmie Deebo has announced the launch of the Emmie Deebo Scholarship Fund, a new initiative aimed at supporting students in secondary schools and universities across the country.
Through a post on her official Facebook page, the First Born artist revealed that the fund will be financed by proceeds from her debut album First Born and the upcoming First Born Tour, which will run from August 1 to October 2025.
“With the money raised from my album, I have decided to introduce the Emmie Deebo Scholarship Fund to support fellow students who are going through tough times, just as I once did,” she shared.
The online application process will officially open on July 15, once her website goes live. The fund aims to provide full or partial financial support to over 100 students, focusing on those who demonstrate need, determination and a compelling personal story.
Deebo expressed hope that, with continued support from fans and well-wishers, the fund will reach even more students than originally planned.
“We are doing very well right now with streams from the album and the upcoming tour will also help raise additional funds. It’s going to be three months of fundraising and celebration,” she wrote.
The initiative has been widely praised on social media, with many commending Emmie Deebo for using her platform to invest in the future of Malawi through education.
