COFO Donates to Chikwawa Families

One hundred and sixty-eight households from Chikwawa District can now afford a sigh of relief after receiving a maize flour donation from a local organisation operating under the name Community Focus (COFO).

On top of the maize flour, the organisation has also given the families a cash donation of K15,000 each.

COFO Executive Director, Joshua Malunga has told ProjectM in an interview that the donation was made in response to challenges the families were facing.

Malunga said the donation has targeted families that were affected by natural disasters in the just-ended rainy season.

“So, as COFO, we decided to make this donation after noticing problems families were facing, especially in areas where we normally operate,” he said.

Each family has received a 25 kilogramme bag of maize flour, a donation Malunga believes will go a long way towards alleviating hunger problems affecting the families.

“It might seem little to some, but trust me, this donation is huge to the families that have benefitted because some of them didn’t harvest anything in the just-ended farming season due to drought,” said Malunga.

COFO has since appealed to the beneficiaries to use the donation wisely.

One of the beneficiaries, Estere Kabudula from Chikhambi 4 Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kasisi, expressed her appreciation to COFO for its continued commitment to supporting households in need.

“It’s not the first time for COFO to do this and for us, we are grateful,” said Kabudula.

The donation, valued at K11,770,344, has been made possible with support from Ora.
