Chilambula to Donate Laptops and Phones to Likoma University Students

Likoma Island Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Health Charles Chilambula has assembled 11 laptops and six mobile phones which will be donated to final-year students from his constituency studying at different public universities in Malawi.

Chilambula said the donation is aimed at supporting students in their academic work and promoting access to education among young people from Likoma.

He said his commitment to supporting education goes beyond students in public universities, pledging that every student from Likoma studying at either a public or private university will have access to a computer.

“I will start by supporting students from less privileged families to ensure that they also have access to computers and are not left behind in their education,” said Chilambula.

The planned donation follows Chilambula’s earlier contribution of 140 computers to all 11 primary schools and three secondary schools on Likoma Island, extending access to digital learning resources to learners across the constituency.

He also revealed plans to donate tablets to nursery schools on the island in the coming month, with the aim of extending access to digital learning tools to children at an early stage of their education.

Alex Chirwa, a student at MuBAS, has welcomed the development, thanking Chilambula for the gesture and congratulating the students who are set to benefit from the donation. He said the initiative would help students access the digital resources they need to support their academic work.

The donations are being made by Chilambula in partnership with his partners in Germany, reflecting a collaborative effort to strengthen access to digital learning resources and support educational opport
