Renowned Malawian fashion designer Chisomo Chavula has been selected to showcase her award-winning brand, Chicha Fashions, at CMG Paris Fashion Week 2026 in France.
The international showcase is scheduled for October 2 to 4, 2026 and will mark Chavula’s first appearance on a global runway.
Chavula earned the Paris slot after winning Best Fashion Designer of the Year at the Mzinda Lifestyle Fashion Show. The award put her work on the radar of international fashion organisers.
“This is both an honour and a dream come true. I never imagined my designs would reach Paris this soon. It feels surreal.”
She said the invitation would offer an opportunity to share her creative journey and Malawian culture with a global audience. For Chavula, the runway will be more than just fashion.
She said: “I’m preparing to tell our story through fabric, color, and design. Chicha Fashions is about celebrating African heritage while making it modern and wearable.”
The designer has been working on a new collection specifically for the Paris debut. She says the collection will blend traditional Malawian patterns with contemporary cuts to appeal to an international market.
Chavula added that the milestone also opens doors for other Malawian creatives to showcase at such international events.
She said: “When one of us gets on that stage, we all get a little closer. I hope this inspires more young designers back home.”
As preparations continue, Chavula said she is focused on delivering quality work that will put Malawi’s fashion industry on the world map.
