BetaOrg Cheers Patients at Queens With Xmas Presents

Some patients at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre were treated to an early Christmas vibe with a donation from a non-governmental organisation, BetaOrg on Wednesday.

The organisation donated hampers to 60 patients as part of Christmas and New Year festival celebrations.

The donation follows another at four churches, Mt Carmel CCAP and Malawi Assemblies of God Berachah International Centre in Machinjiri, Light of Life Global Assembly in Limbe and St Columba CCAP in Nkolokosa where they presented a total of 100 hampers and K8 million.

BetaOrg national director Bridget Mbeya said they were aware that patients in hospitals needed a lot of support be it financial, material, moral as well as spiritual.”

A ward-in charge nursing officer Anele Mwale commended BetaOrg as the donation will go a long way in alleviating the problems that they face.

“The donation is timely, especially to patients and guardians who have stayed long in hospital. Most of them lack basic needs such as food, soap and sugar. During the festive season, they also need to be given love as Christmas symbolises the birth of God’s son,” she said.

A guardian Maggie Saweluzika from Machinjiri said she was grateful for the presents, saying it was timely.

“I am grateful to the organisation for offering us the gifts. We didn’t know that we will be in the hospital during this festive period and that we can receive such gifts. We lack a lot of basic things to keep us going here in the hospital,” she said.
