ART DREAM NIGHT MARKET LEAVES MARK

The Art Dream Night Market was an unforgettable event that brought together various forms of art in an innovative and vibrant atmosphere on Saturday at Chichiri Museum in Blantyre.

Held at night, the event transformed an ordinary market into a living canvas, where creativity was in abundance. From painting and music to food, performance, and casual conversation, art was seamlessly woven into every aspect of the evening.

As you entered the venue, the artistic touch was immediately apparent. The entire space was thoughtfully decorated, and every stall, whether it was for food, artwork, or handmade goods, contributed to the event’s creative energy. Even the way people conversed felt like a form of art, with lively discussions and shared experiences floating through the air.

A standout feature was an old train that had been beautifully transformed into a gallery, with art hanging all around it. The train became a central point for visitors, offering a perfect blend of history and modern creativity.

Around the venue, several stalls offered a variety of commodities—food, drinks, and artwork—inviting visitors to engage with the art on multiple levels. The event had a true market feel, with people browsing, buying and sitting down to enjoy the atmosphere.

One of the highlights of the evening was the collaborative painting session. Attendees were invited to contribute to a large canvas, where they could express their emotions and creativity through brushstrokes. The result was a colorful and dynamic masterpiece that reflected the collective spirit of the crowd.

The night reached its peak when Mazani surprised the audience with a powerful performance of his favorite songs. His energetic set captivated the crowd, leaving attendees in awe.

After Mazani, the crowd was treated to a mesmerising performance by Eli Njuchi, who, along with guitarist Upile, delivered an hour-long set that had everyone on their feet, thoroughly enjoying the music.

Speaking with several patrons, it was clear that the event left a lasting impression. Many expressed how much they appreciated the vibrant atmosphere and how the night brought together different forms of creativity in an unexpected and enjoyable way.

Event organiser, Chimwemwe, shared his thoughts on the success of the evening. “I just took a chance,” he said.

“I didn’t know how the event would turn out, but seeing how well everything came together is incredible. I want to encourage other youth and anyone out there to take chances and pursue their passions.”

The Art Dream Night Market was truly a celebration of art in all its forms, a remarkable experience that brought people together and reminded everyone of the beauty that can emerge when creativity is embraced.
