The Mpoto Awards are set to return for their fifth edition on December 4, 2026, with organisers highlighting the growing influence of the platform in recognising talent, celebrating excellence and promoting regional representation in Malawi’s Northern Region.
The annual awards ceremony, which will take place at Grand Palace Hotel from 5:30 pm, recognises individuals and organisations demonstrating outstanding skills, talents and achievements across different fields.
Mpoto Awards Chairperson Bunnert Mulungu said the fifth edition marks an important stage in the growth of the platform, citing increased public participation and the organisers’ continued commitment to ensuring that talent and achievements from across the region receive recognition.
“What makes this edition special is the growth of the platform, stronger public participation and our continued commitment to regional representation. We are so motivated by the impact these awards have made over the years,” said Mulungu.
He disclosed that the organisers had received more than 6,000 public nominations across 18 categories, reflecting the level of public engagement with the awards.
In addition to the competitive categories, this year’s ceremony will feature two special recognition awards: the Regional Excellence Catalyst Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award, which will recognise contributions and achievements beyond the regular award categories.
Mzuzu based upcoming musician Isaac Mweso said he is looking forward to get nominated on the upcoming musician category because he believes he is the right candidate and he asked for support to vote for him.
The fifth edition is expected to provide another opportunity to celebrate individuals and organisations whose work, creativity and dedication continue to contribute to the development and visibility of the Northern Region.
