Nollywood Film ‘IKENGA’ to Premiere in Malawi

The Nigerian film ‘IKENGA’ is set to premiere in Malawi on 26 November, 2026, at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) Auditorium in Lilongwe.

The premiere will take place during the Malawi Film Awards, in what is expected to be one of the highlights of this year’s event.

Film Association of Malawi (FAMA) President Dorothy Kingston announced the development in a Facebook post following a joint press briefing in Nigeria.

Kingston confirmed that FAMA has entered into a partnership with the Nigerian film industry to bring Nollywood closer to Malawi.

She said the development follows last year’s successful initiative of bringing South African personality Zolisa to Malawi.

“This year, the country is set to welcome Nollywood,” Kingston said.

She added that the partnership is expected to strengthen collaboration between Malawi’s film industry and Nigeria’s renowned Nollywood sector.

Kingston said the premiere will give Malawian filmmakers an opportunity to learn, network and showcase local talent on a bigger stage.

The event is also expected to be a big moment for upcoming actors such as Elizabeth Zulanga who has told ProjectM that she is eager to witness the event.

“As an upcoming actor, meeting Nollywood stars and watching ‘IKENGA’ premiere here in Malawi will motivate me to work harder and believe that our dreams are valid,” Zulanga said.
