Effie Namwali Foundation (ENF), a community-based non-profit making organisation, cherished the milestone two drop-out returnees who will sit for the 2026 Malawi School Certificate of Education Examinations.
This follows a farewell event for January Community Day Secondary Secondary in Goliati, Thyolo District.
ENF programme officer Josephine Chikoti said the foundation, which was launched in 2022, were proud of 17-year-old girls Tabitha Kalulu and Odetta Tanaka of Ngolongoliwa Village in Traditional Authority Ngolongoliwa in Thyolo for reaching Form Four at January Community Day Secondary School with the foundation’s support.
She said: “What made this graduation special is that two learners from the ENF programme, who have been readmitted also graduated. Despite the challenges they faced, they worked hard, completed their courses and were part of the ceremy.”
Chikoti further said their MSCE candidature vindicates that with support and determination, (under-privileged) learners can overcome setbacks to achieve their goals.
The foundation offered the two learners alongside other 20 beneficiaries with school fees, examination fees, Mathetical instruments, notebooks, pens.
Member of Parliament for Thyolo Goliati Constituency, Maureen Namwali, who is also an official of the foundation, graced the event and gave presents to all the 117 Form Four learners to motivate them.
Namwali urged the learners to aim higher drawing inspiration from President of Malawi Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika who comes from the area.
