SOLAR PUMPS EARNS MAN BIG

A Malawi School Certificate of Education holder Charles Chigongono says designing and installation of solar-powered irrigation pumps earns him K10 million.

The 43-year-old has told ProjectM that his innovation was influenced by climate change, which has affected agricultural productivity because of floods and drought.

The Lilongwe-based entrepreneur, who is Mphamvu Ya Dzuwa Solutions Technical Director, the water-driven water pumps for irrigation aims at ensuring sustainable agricultural productivity.

Said Chigongono: “Through innovative and modern farming solutions we are paving the way for a brighter agricultural future. Let us embrace the future of agricultural innovation with Mphamvu Ya Dzuwa Solutions by shifting from costly fuel powered pumps and start using solar powered water pumps.”

He said the solar-powered pumping systems were designed for efficiency and durability as they are capable of pumping 100,000 litres of water per hour from the lakes, rivers and other places using various systems such as submersible pumps.

The innovator said, through his innovation has built descent houses for his family, paying school fees for his children in various secondary schools and many more

Samuel Tembenu from Lilongwe is one clients of Mphamvu Ya Dzuwa Solutions who has two farms in Salima and Nkhotakota.

Tembenu has described Mphamvu Ya Dzuwa Solutions solar powered pumping systems as effective.

“For efficiency and effective solar panel, I would urge Malawians to contact Charles Chigongono. The solar water pumps, which were installed in my gardens some years ago, are effectively working and we normally experience improved crops and good harvests,” he said.
