Chikwawa Special Needs Learners Get Chance to Shine in Tech

Special needs learners from Lundu Primary School in Chikwawa District will now have a chance to undergo computer training, thanks to an organisation called Community Focus (COFO), which has donated modern computers to the school.

COFO says it has made the donation to, among others, give an opportunity to special needs learners to have an opportunity of going far with education amid rapid changes in technology.

The organisation’s Dxecutive Director Joshua Malunga has told ProjectM in an interview that through the donation, the organisation hopes to see learners with special needs develop into tech experts.

“As COFO, we are hoping to see all learners at this school become the next tech wizards, masters of digital realm, weaving magic with code, circuits and innovation,” he said.

Malunga said COFO also hopes the donation would help in improving problem solving skills among learners with special needs.

“And if that happens with computers donated by us, we will be glad,” said Malunga.

A total of 20 computers have been donated at the school where the organisation has also built a computer laboratory.

“In short, it’s a full package complete with backup power,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chikwawa district education office has commended COFO for the donation, saying it will help to uplift education standards at the school.

“We are glad for this timely donation because we also believe an investment in children is an investment in the country’s future,” said Chikwawa District Education Office Director of youth and sports Hendrix Likeke.

The donation, whose total value has not been disclosed has been made under a special initiative called “Invest for change”.
