Malawian youthful innovator, Innocent Mandili has grabbed international attention again after receiving recognition as one of Africa’s top 5 innovators of 2025 in the GoGettaz Agriprenuer Prize Competition (GAPC), an annual event that seeks to recognise and support the most innovative and promising agriprenuers in Africa.
Mandili, a visionary young student from the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) has made it into top 5 best innovators in Africa after developing several impactful innovations, including Bio-liquid fertiliser.
The fertiliser, produced by his company, MI Innovation Company, is produced using locally sourced materials such as manure and ash.
The Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF), a body responsible for organising the competition say the 19-year-old’s innovation has been ranked highly for its community impact, business viability and potential to scale.
“What this innovation has proven to us is that Africa has the potential to support itself,” information on the organisation’s website said.
Mandili’s innovation has been selected from hundreds of innovations that were submitted by youths across Africa.
Meanwhile, the innovator has hailed AFSF for noticing his work.
“My innovation competed against hundreds of innovations across Africa and I am glad that I am in top 5,” said Mandili.
If Mandili’s innovation makes it to the final, he will receive an award of $50,000 and receive mentorship and training from experienced agriprenuers.
