Malawi Under-21 Netball Team Leaves

Malawi Under-21 National Netball Team has left by road for Lusaka, Zambia for a three-match test series against the hosts scheduled for August 1 to 3.

The 16-team squad with use the test series to prepare for the 2025 Netball World Youth Cub set for September 19 to 28 in the European nation of Gibraltar.

Malawi National Council of Sports said in a statement the Malawi Under-21 official sponsors international mobile service operator Mukuru Malawi and the Council have sponsored the trip.

In an interview, the Under-21 coach Noel Mussa commended Netball Association Malawi, Sports Council and Mukuru Malawi for ensuring.

“The test series are important as we are building a team for the future. Under-21 team has previously produced great players such as Mwawi Kumwenda, Joyce Mvula who went on to become star players,” he said.

The travelling comprises; Shooters: Stella Materezi (Blue Eagles), Ida Mhone (Kukoma Diamonds), Getrude Makunganya (Cedar Queens), Florence Jeke (CivoNets).

Midcourt players: Melia Soko (Vanessa Queens), Khadi Juma and Mestina Mtete (Tigresses) and Alinafe Chaima (Young Eagles).

Defenders: Esther Phiri (Giants NC), Aisha Game (Blue Eagles), Christina Type (Pacers), Sophilet Banda (Kukoma Diamonds), Chimwemwe Dzanja (Lioness), Martha Matupi (Vanessa) and Prisca Banda (Boma Stars).

Technical panel; Noel Mussa (coach), Christina Mkwanda (assistant coach), Anne Kapatuka (team manager), Getrude Chilemba (team doctor), Vincent Shombe (physical trainer), Peace Banda (Boma) and Peace Kalua (mentor).
