Prolific youthful innovator, Innocent Mandili has made headlines again on the international stage after being recognised as one of Africa’s top 41 innovators of 2025 in the GoGettaz Agriprenuer Prize Competition (GAPC).
This is an annual event that seeks to identify and support the most innovative and promising agriprenuers in Africa.
Mandili, a student studying Manufacturing Engineering at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), has been recognised for developing several innovations including a Bio-liquid fertiliser which is currently being used by some farmers in the country.
The Bio-liquid fertiliser, produced by his company, MI Innovation Company, is made from materials such as manure and ash.
The 19-year-old’s innovation has been ranked highly for its community impact, business viability and potential to scale.
According to the Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF), a body responsible for organising the competition, Mandili’s innovation is proving that Africa is not waiting for solutions, but it is creating them.
“Mandili’s innovation has surpassed hundreds of ideas pitched by change-makers across Africa,” said the information on its website.
The innovator has since thanked AFSF for recognizing his work, saying: “I am deeply honoured to be recognised for my works and receiving an international recognition such as this,” Mandili said.
He has since indicated that the recognition will inspire him to explore new ideas.
If Mandili’s innovation makes it to the final, he will receive a grand prize of $50,000 and receive mentorship and training from experienced agriprenuers.
