Former football players will have an opportunity to learn practical entrepreneurship skills, thanks to an agreement signed by Football Legends Association, Mpira M’Mudzi Mwathu and Ebenezer Investment.
Through the agreement, signed Wednesday, Ebenezer Investment, a local printing services provider, will provide former football players with special training in graphic designing, screen printing and other skills.
Ebenezer Investment Executive Director, Jean Midian Mfune has told ProjectM that the company will focus on helping the ex-players transition into entrepreneurship.
“We have agreed to start training eight players per year, providing them with necessary skills to navigate through the world of business,” she said.
The 12-month partnership, which is renewable upon its expiry has been designed to help ex-players focus on rebuilding their lives financially.
Mpira M’Mudzi Mwathu Managing Director and Founder, Chimango Munthali expressed excitement with the initiative, saying it will help in minimising challenges ex-players face after retiring.
“A lot of ex-players have been suffering financially soon after leaving professional football, a thing which will now be minimised through this agreement,” said Munthali.
Football Legends Association Executive Director Jim Kalua hailed the agreement, calling it vital in propelling lives of ex-players forward.
“This agreement is like a midfielder because it will help in coordinating a lot of things,” he said.
