Goshen City Sponsors Miss Malawi Beauty Pageant

Miss Malawi beauty pageant is set for a groundbreaking transformation, following a landmark K50 million sponsorship deal from Goshen City, an ambitious smart city initiative under the Goshen Trust, led by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri.

Speaking during the announcement, Director of International Relations for the Miss Malawi 2025 Governance Board, Tadala Chihana described the sponsorship as a “huge blessing and a new beginning”.

She noted that for years, the pageant struggled to stay afloat due to inconsistent funding, which often left winners without guidance, protection, or meaningful platforms to shine.

Chihana said the new partnership aims to address setbacks and reposition the crown as a vehicle for empowerment and national development.

Goshen City Trust Board Chairperson, Charles Kaunda, emphasized that the partnership reflects the organisation’s dedication to empowering young people and uplifting women.

Miss Malawi must go beyond beauty. She should be a national ambassador, driving social change in alignment with Malawi 2063 (development agenda),” said Kaunda.

Miss Malawi Creative Director, Godfrey Kambewa said from the K50 million, K30 million will go directly to the winner as cash prize, K10 million will secure a fully paid apartment for one year, and another K10 million will support the queen’s social impact projects.

He described the prizes as one of the most competitive across Africa, saying it equips the titleholder with the resources and influence to make real, lasting change.

The Miss Malawi Committee, now backed by a restructured governance board, has also announced plans to strengthen collaboration with key government ministries.

Their goal is to transform the pageant into a powerful platform that promotes youth empowerment, tourism and cultural heritage, positioning Malawi as a serious contender on the global stage.

This year’s pageant not only promises glitz and glamour, but a strategic shift toward substance, leadership, and national pride.
