FCB Anniversary Match to Boost Luwinga Football Academy

As First Capital Bank (FCB) celebrates its 30-year journey in Malawi, the bank is choosing to invest in the youth in a way that promises to shape their football talents.

On June 29, the FCB 30 Years Cup will see FCB Nyasa Big Bullets face Silver Strikers at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe to support Luwinga Inclusive Football Academy in Mzuzu.

All proceeds from the match will go towards the academy, established by Football Association of Malawi to develop the raw skills of young boys and girls.

FCB’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Twikale Chirwa said: “This isn’t just about a celebration but building lasting visions. Luwinga Academy is doing incredible work, nurturing young talent in Mzuzu and we want to help them reach more children.”

The Luwinga Inclusive Football Academy provides training, mentorship and life skills to youth, especially those from underprivileged communities.

FCB’s support will help the Academy expand its programmes, improve equipment and reach rural areas that often go unnoticed in talent development.

FCB also unveiled a limited-edition Bullets jersey to mark the occasion, with 100 lucky fans set to receive replicas through pre-match promotions.

Speaking at the press conference, Bullets acting CEO Albert Chigoga hailed the initiative as a game-changer not just for youth development, but also the football fraternity in Malawi.

“When corporate sponsors go beyond teams and invest in academies, it shows real commitment to the game. Luwinga Academy is planting seeds for tomorrow’s stars,” said Chigoga.

On the other hand, the bank also sponsors the Under-20 National League, showing a consistent track record in grassroots sports development.
