The Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) says preparations in readiness for this year’s Malawi international trade fair are at an advanced stage.
MCCCI Chief Executive Officer, Daisy Kambalame has made the remarks as from the 22 to 29 May, Malawi is set to host the 35th Malawi International Trade Fair at the trade fair grounds in Blantyre.
Kambalame said the fair, which will be held under the theme “Promoting Economic Transformation Through Private Sector-led Industrialisation”, is the biggest trade exhibition event in the country.
She has since called on local traders, entrepreneurs and innovators to take advantage of the fair to exhibit their products to potential buyers.
“It’s an opportunity for investors, innovators and entrepreneurs to arrange formal and informal meetings with potential partners or clients,” said Kambalame.
She implored participants to use the opportunity to foster collaboration and strike mutually beneficial business deals.
“It is also an opportunity for exhibitors to get insights into the local and international competitive landscape and make informed business strategies based on market trends,” said Kambalame.
The MCCCI has since indicated that currently, registration processes are open for both local and international exhibitors with companies from Zambia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique expected to exhibit their products at the function.
Lilongwe Small Scale Business Operators chairperson Elisha Mbendera has welcomed the fair, saying local business operators are ready to exhibit their products.
“As an association, we are in the process of registering members who are going to exhibit their innovations at the fair and we are geared to showcase our capabilities,” said Mbendera.
