The National Football Coaches Association has landed K3 million sponsorship package from Mpira M’mudzi Mwathu (MMM) Sports Plus for the 2025 football season aimed at recognising coaching excellence.
Announcing the partnership in Blantyre on Monday, MMM Sports Plus Commercial Director Alice Munthali said the deal will see monthly winners walk away with K150,000 cash and a K100,000 miniature trophy while the ultimate Coach of the Year will pocket K500,000.
“We believe coaches play a pivotal role in the success of football teams. Through this award, we want to motivate them to keep striving for greatness,” said Munthali.
Coaches Association Chairperson Aubrey Nankhuni hailed the deal as a game-changer.
“This sponsorship will encourage coaches to work even harder. It’s a huge morale booster,” he said.
The selection process for the award will be rigorous, with 80 percent of the votes coming from a panel of technical experts and 20 percent from the media.
Team performance, number of wins, points accumulated, and tactical prowess will be key benchmarks.
“This is about rewarding excellence and setting a new standard for our coaches,” added Nankhuni.
