“The farm produces a variety of agricultural products, including cereals, vegetables, and organic fertilisers, with the latter being a flagship product aimed at reducing chemical use and improving soil health,” she said.
Despite challenges such as limited resources, the farm’s team is committed to innovation and efficiency.
“We are dedicated to educating local farmers about organic farming practices, working alongside partners like the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute (SMEDI) to improve knowledge and outreach. We also offer training and hands-on learning opportunities,” she explained.
Vitumbiko Farm is slowly changing the mindset of farmers who traditionally rely on chemical-based solutions.
Vitumbiko Farm’s located near Kameza Roundabout in Blantyre provides easy access to both urban and rural markets, positioning the farm as a vital partner for Malawian farmers.
Its mission extends beyond product sales. The farm works to build lasting relationships with local communities, ensuring that farmers have access to quality, sustainable products at fair prices.
As it grows, the farm is exploring opportunities to expand to neighbouring countries such as Zambia, further extending its impact in the region.
