Fourteen young women in Thyolo District, have graduated from a transformative mentorship and business training program conducted by She Rose Foundation.
The initiative aimed to empower participants with essential entrepreneurial skills to build sustainable livelihoods.
The program, facilitated by Tione Malinga, was rolled out in two phases. Phase one, held in June, focused on foundational business skills such as marketing, market research, entrepreneurship, and identifying sources of financing.
Phase two, conducted in August, emphasized mentorship, providing personalized guidance and support to help the girls transition from training to implementation.
“This program was designed to address both the theoretical and practical aspects of business,” said Tione Malinga, the lead facilitator for She Rose Foundation.
“We didn’t just want to teach these young women about business; we wanted to prepare them to face real-world challenges and succeed.”
Among the graduates is Brandina Chisale, who expressed her gratitude for the life-changing opportunity.
“She Rose Foundation has truly changed my life,” she said. “Right now, I own a lot of things, and my doughnut business is blooming. This program has given me the confidence and knowledge I needed to succeed.”
Initially, the program enrolled 15 girls. However, one participant secured a job before the program’s completion, leaving 14 graduates to celebrate their achievements.
Each graduate was awarded a certificate of completion and MK10,000 in start up capital to help them establish their businesses.
Despite some challenges, such as difficulties in starting businesses after the mentorship program, the initiative provided the girls with critical skills and knowledge to navigate the entrepreneurial landscape.
The graduation ceremony celebrated the girls’ determination and highlighted the foundation’s commitment to empowering young women.
Tione Malinga emphasized the importance of resilience and innovation in business, encouraging the graduates to persist in their entrepreneurial journeys.
She Rose Foundation continues to make a significant impact in Malawi, providing young women with tools and opportunities to create better futures for themselves and their communities.
