A Malawian-based youth-led organization, Youth Action For Success and Development (YASD) says it will implement some of the environmental conservation strategies discussed by global leaders at this year’s Conference Of Parties (COP)-29 currently underway in Baku, Azerbaijan.
In an interview with ProjectM from Baku, YASD founder and executive director, Edward Chidombe Msiska has indicated that this year’s Conference has provided a unique opportunity for Malawian youths to engage with global leaders and experts on climate change and sustainable development.
Msiska said his organization’s participation at the summit is expected to yield numerous benefits for Malawian youths.
“I believe my participation here will help youths at home gain valuable insights and knowledge on latest climate change mitigation strategies and youth empowerment,” Msiska said.
He said his attendance has also broadened his understanding of global climate change efforts.
“I am eager to share this knowledge with fellow Malawian youths, empowering them to become change-markers in their communities,” said Msiska.
YASD has also amplified voices of Malawian youths, ensuring that their concerns and ideas are represented on the international stage.
“I had an opportunity here to share what youths under our organization are doing to mitigate effects of climate change, including innovations like production of organic fertilizers, launch of tree nurseries and green innovations,” He added.
YASD has for the past few months trained hundreds of youths and women from the central region of Malawi in green innovations such as manufacturing of organic fertilizers, recycling of wastes into Fertilizers and production of glass tumblers using discarded bottles.
