MANGANI’S FARMING JOURNEY TO SUCCESS

At 27, Chikondi Mangani’s life has taken a remarkable turn, once an aspiring music producer and artist, he now finds success in irrigation farming.

Chikondi’s story began in New Naperi in Blantyre city, where he pursued his music dreams from 2018 to 2022, however, financial constraints forced him to reassess his priorities.

Now, Mangani’s farm at Katundu village in Thyolo is thriving, with a diverse crop selection including maize, cabbage, tomatoes, and Irish potatoes, he now employs two workers, who help him in all farming activities.

“I was inspired by the scarcity of employment opportunities in Malawi, farming offered me a chance to create my own success.” Explained Mangani.

According to Mangani, expanding his business requires an estimated 1–2-million-kwacha capital, his long-term vision includes establishing a thriving agricultural enterprise, buying and selling maize, soya, and beans.

” I want to have business in town while am also doing good in Farming It’s better to try and fail than fail to try, farming is not just a fallback; it’s a viable career path,” Mangani noted.

Agricultural Expert Peter Mwitha praised Mangani’s innovative approach to addressing youth unemployment in Malawi.

“Entrepreneurs like Chikondi Mangani demonstrate the potential for agriculture to drive economic growth and job creation,” said a Mwitha.
