TALK TO SOMEONE FOUNDATION DONATES MAIZE FLOUR TO 498 HOUSEHOLDS IN MACHINGA

In a heart-warming act of community support, Talk to Someone Foundation, led by Dr. Tabitha Kayira Ngomwa, provided flour to 498 households in Sub-Traditional Authority Ngunda, Machinga, on October 15.

The distribution was organised in response to the growing hunger crisis in the area, where many families have been struggling to secure basic food supplies.

The charity drive was coordinated through the foundation’s Facebook Page and WhatsApp group, after distressing reports about food shortages in Machinga emerged on social media.

Dr. Ngomwa called for contributions from group members, asking people to donate as little as K100 or K50.

The response was overwhelming, with the group raising K4.5 million enough to buy 100 bags of maize for the affected families.

“We heard through social media that some homes were heavily hit by hunger,” Dr. Ngomwa said during the distribution.

“We called on people to make small contributions, and the community came together to help. It’s a powerful reminder that even a little generosity from many people can have a big impact.”

The distribution of maize is part of Talk to Someone Foundation’s broader mission to assist the less-privileged with school fees, food and housing.

The foundation operates as a charitable group on Facebook and WhatsApp, relying on small donations from the public to carry out its work.

Dr. Ngomwa expressed her gratitude to all who contributed, saying: “Today, 498 families are receiving much-needed food. While this is a significant step, we know there are still more who need help. We will continue to do what we can, and we encourage others to join us in this mission.”

Sub-Traditional Authority Ngunda praised the foundation’s efforts, noting that the support came at a critical time when many families were relying on mangoes to survive.

She said: “This aid is very timely as people in our area have been depending on mangoes to feed their children due to the severe food shortages.”

Talk to Someone Foundation is planning further interventions and is calling on more people to participate in its fundraising efforts.
