A new online shopping platform, Mall 97, is taking Malawi by storm. Founded by 26-year-old entrepreneur Moses Dausi, the app aims to boost entrepreneurship in Malawi through e-commerce.
Dausi, a secondary school teacher and Chinese language interpreter, drew inspiration from his studies in China, where he went for his studies.
“I observed how convenient and seamless it was to buy anything using mobile apps, I wanted to bring this experience to Malawi,” said Dausi
Launched recently, Mall 97 has already gained significant traction among the locals and outsiders, they have so far close to 3,000 registered users and over 5,000 products listed.
“The feedback is overwhelming. Honestly, I never expected that in Malawi it’s not easy for people to adapt to new developments and I’m glad it has captured people’s attention,” he said.
Subscribers are raving about the platform. Jane Moliya, a timber seller, expressed her satisfaction with Mall 97.
“Mall 97 has made it easy for me to reach a wider market, I have received multiple orders since listing my products, and the app’s user-friendly interface makes management a breeze,” she said.
Hezron Yakobe, a buyer, echoed similar sentiments with the recent website calling it easy to use.

Dausi’s vision extends beyond Mall 97, He plans to create a brand that transforms lives through internet-based business solutions, with Mall 97 being just the beginning.
Currently self-funded innovator plans to employ staff as the venture grows.
