Kamuzu Barracks FC have beefed up its technical panel following unimpressive results in the recent games by roping coach Temwa Msuku as First Assistant Coach with effect from September 16.
In a statement released on the team’s Facebook page on Thursday, the minor shakeup has also affected First Assistant Coach Denis Kambewa who was demoted to Second Assistant Coach replacing Blessings Kawanga who has been dismissed.
But Charles Kamanga remains the team’s head coach.
Kamuzu Barracks lost 1-0 against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the 2024 TNM Super League. They went on to suffer a 2-0 away defeat in the first leg of the Airtel Top 8 Cup to less-fancied Chitipa United on Saturday.
The Malawi Defence Force-sponsored side is on position six in the TNM Super League with 28 points from 19 games. They have won six games so far, drawn 10 and have lost three matches.
In an interview, Kamuzu Barracks FC general secretary Albert Midian said Msuku is well versed with the team’s philosophy having worked as caretaker head coach and assistant coach before.
He said with his presence, he expects the team to go back to winning ways as it did while he was incharge.
“We as Kamuzu Barracks, dismayed with the current performances of the team, decided to take Temwa on board to help rejuvenate the team having considered several factors,” he said.
On his part, Temwa who has already started working full throttle and will be in the dugout on Thursday afternoon against resilient Chitipa United at Civo said he has accepted the challenge.
“Kamuzu Barracks is a big team, it has a mark in the country’s football and I am determined to bring the expected technical support so that it should retain its glory,” he said.
