TEMWA BREAKS 2 MORE RECORDS IN US SOCCER LEAGUE

US-based Malawian football star Temwa Chawinga broke two more records in the National Women Soccer League when she inspired her team Kansas City Current to a 1-0 victory over Utta Royals on Sunday.

The goal scored in the 46th minute was a sheer class of brilliance when she exploded from her half, surging forward after she was fed with a good pass to out-muscle the defence before a clinical finish.

The goal did not only broke her own record of scoring in seven consecutive matches but also being being the fifth player in the league’s history to take her tally to 15 goals in a season.

Her club paid tribute with a message on its official Facebook Page, saying: “A goal in eight consecutive matches. Golden Boot leader Temwa TC6 Chawinga is just the fifth player of all-time to score 15 goals in a single NWSL season.”

She also posted on her Facebook Page, saying: “It is the 15th goal of the season. As the journey continues. KCBabg#Moving forward.”

However, Temwa downplayed the feats, saying it was good for the club to get back on track after going a bad patch.

“We fought all the way and deserved to win. As I always say, the team comes first and the victory will lift our spirits to regain our form,” she said.
