ProjectM has learnt that there are some areas where people affected by Cyclone Freddy have not received any assistance. This was revealed when projectM visited the affected people at Chawe Primary School in Chiradzulu district on March 16, 2023.
In an interview with the headteacher, Ms Kokonongwa says the school is keeping more than 85 cyclone freddy victims.
“Currently, there are few people because we have told them to go to the neighboring villages to look for food as we have not received any help at the moment. So it wouldn’t be wise to keep people here with hunger,” disclosed the headteacher.
The headteacher has therefore, appealed to the well wishers to assist the victims with food, shelter, clothes and blankets just to Mention a few.
When speaking with Ms James, who is divorced and has five children, says things are not well since all her belongings were destroyed.
“Now we are coming from the village to beg for food where we have eaten nsima ‘ya gaga’,” said Ms James.
Chiradzulu district is one of the districts mostly affected by Cyclone Freddy.
