FCB Nyasa Bullets have cruised to the FDH Cup final after a 3-1 victory over Moyale Barracks on Wednesday evening at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
Bullets will face Blue Eagles, who were the first to reach the final after beating Karonga United 2-0.
Ephraim Kondowe gave the People’s Team the lead after 20 minutes into the game and 26 minutes later, Babatunde Adepoju shattered Moyale’s run to make it 2-0 at half time.
Moyale Barracks, the hosts, pulled one back after 52 minutes in the second half through Emmanuel Allan after receiving a pass from Love more Jere before Babatunde Adepoju scored the third goal in the 71st minute to make it 3-1 in favour of the visitors.
This was the first time after so many years, for a semi-final match to be played under the floodlights, according to Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Fleetwood Haiya.
He said Malawi has made history by joining a global trend of organizing local matches during the evening, marking an incredible moment in the world of football.
‘’This is a huge positive record after many decades, and we will make sure to have more of these fixtures in the future. We are grateful to the football fans for coming in their large numbers, and together we can transform the game for the betterment of Malawian football,’’ he said.
Heading into the tournament, many predicted that the Blantyre-based giants would suffer an early elimination due to their poor performance in the TNM Super league and in their run to the title triumph, the Blantyre-based outfit defeated teams such as Mighty Mukuru Wanders in the round of 16, and Civil Service United in the quarter finals match.
When the two teams met a fortnight ago, in the TNM super league the match ended 1-1 draw but in the 2022 FDH CUP, the Military team lost to Bullets in the round of 16 of the tournament.
The game between Nyasa Big Bullets and Blue Eagles is expected to be explosive.
