ZOMBA PLATEAU OFFERS MAGICAL AND UNIQUE EXPERIENCE FOR VISITORS

The Zomba plateau, which is located in the heart of Zomba, the old capital City of Malawi, is one of the most popular tourist destinations which offers magical and unique experience for visitors.

This inspiring landscape, holds a special place in the hearts of locals and international visitors and it is on record to have been discovered by DR. David Livingstone on 30th September in 1859.

Apart from the beautiful natural forest, this remarkable plateau, has a lot of amenities for relaxation and leisure which include: the queens view which was named by Queen Elizabeth the second of England when she toured the place in 1957.

Additionally, it has also beautiful places such as the William water falls, the Mulunguzi Dam, Kuchawe inn including the emperor’s view named after Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie who visited the place in 1965.

According to Christopher Mankhokwe, Senior Culture and Heritage Conductor at the Heritage Centre in Zomba, it is the most visited plateaus in the country which offers a breathtaking view of other places such as lake Chirwa plain, Phalombe District, Mulanje Mountain and the surrounding valley that attracts tourists, artists, poets alike.

Mankhokwe said, Zomba Plateau has greatly contributed to the growth of tourism industry in Malawi because it is easily accessible, crystal clear waters among others.

This stunning landscape again offers endless outdoor ventures including world life, adventurous hiking trails, perfect for nature lovers, photographers including casual walkers who want to soak in natural beauty of the place.

To those who have ever had the privilege to visit the rolling hills of Zomba plateau, this place offers a majestic natural wonder and unique ecological habitats and has a maximum of 2,100 meters above sea level.
For those who have never visited the place, Zomba plateau offers a magnificent view to its visitors and is easier to reach than many other plateaus in the World which welcomes local and foreign tourists of all ages.

With its forests covered with lush trees, it saturates the lungs with oxygen and reveals the beauty of Malawi in the best way possible.

It has also become one of the best favourite places for those who want to set up camps.

Fascinating with the sight of smoky mountains, the plateau makes you feel the best of nature.
