ZAMBIAN CLUB SALUTES MALAWI FOOTBALLER FOR BOOSTING ITS POPULARITY

Zambian club Green Buffaloes is delighted with former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers burly striker Christopher Kumwembe, saying he has boosted its social media platform visibility.

The club said in a statement after signing the player, the club has attracted a following on from Malawian fans.

Reads the statement: “The recent signing of Malawian player Christopher Jacammah Kumwenda from Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC has sparked a surge in popularity for the team, especially online.

“We want to say thank you to the people of Malawi for the great support you have given us as a club. You have made a very big impact on our Facebook Page, growing our followers from 50k (50,000) to 62k (62,000) in no time.”

The club said the support underlines the power of football in uniting multi-cultural people across the borders.

Green Buffaloes has so far signed five players for the new season with Kumwenda alongside midfielder Chipo Sondashi from FC MUZA, striker Eric Chomba joined on loan from Nkwazi FC, midfielder Stephen Mutama from Nkwazi, Mutama, Congolese striker Merlin Kapela Pongo from AC Kuya Sport Kinshasa.

He has so far scored a league goal for his club.
Green Buffaloes are second on the table having tied with leaders Nchanga Rangers, third-placed Red Arrows and fourth-positioned Zanaco at 7 points from four games. The team four teams have played four matches, with two wins, one draw and one loss.
