YOUTH ORGANIZATION CONSTRUCTS A CLASSROOM BLOCK

Youth-led organisation operating under the banner “Citizen Impact Organisation” (CIO) based in Mzuzu city is set to handover a newly constructed school block at Kaswiti Primary school in Mzimba district.

Chimwemwe Banda, who is the CIO executive director has told ProjectM that the organization decided to construct the block after noticing a lack of proper learning facilities for learners at the school.

“If you have ever been to any school in rural areas, chances are high that you saw schools without enough classrooms, a problem which prompted us to do something ” Banda explained.

Kaswiti primary school, located in village Headman Elton Chimaliro in Mzimba north, previously had six classrooms against an enrollment of 500 learners.

“The addition of a classroom block will foster education and improve students’ attendance at school hence ensuring more people are well educated,” Banda added.

CIO launched the project in 2022 in corroboration with the TEVETA.

“Today, we are proud to share that our efforts have come to fruition, bringing quality education closer to the children of Kaswiti” She added.

Spokesperson for Ministry of Education Mphatso Nkuonera has hailed the organisation, urging other organizations to emulate the same.
