YOUTH ORGANISATION URGES YOUTHS TO DEVELOP POSITIVE MINDSET

A youth organisation, Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development, has emphasised on the need for the youth to develop a positive mindset to create positive change in their lives.

Project Manager for the organisation Hope Hamuza Nguwo said time has come for young men and women in the country to have a positive and proactive mindset that views challenges as opportunities for learning and growth.

Nguwo said change is fundamentally influenced by our mindset, shaping not only the process but also outcomes.

He said: “Our goal with the mindset change project is to empower individuals to think critically, challenge the status quo and embrace new possibilities. We believe that by fostering a mindset growth, individuals can unlock their potential and create a positive mindset in their businesses, lives and their communities.

“Mindset change is essential for progress and development. What we are saying is that a fixed mindset can limit opportunities and hinders success while growth mindset can open doors and lead to innovation and achievement.”

Nguwo has told projectM that problem-solving experiences are essential for young people’s development as they enhance critical thinking and creativity by encouraging them to analyse situations and explore various solutions.

The Lilongwe-based young man said his organisation targets the youth because they are the most impressionable, open to change and inevitably affected by the challenges.

“Mindset change can have a significant impact on the lives of young men and women who are also the future of today.

“Equipping them with the tools and knowledge to think critically, we can empower them to build a brighter future for themselves and the nation,” said Nguwo.

He further said that his plan is to create a platform to promote change and empower individuals to realise their potential.

“These young people need to be encouraged to value education as a great enabler that will help them have the capacity to handle opportunities the country can offer. Education empowers individuals to think critically, solve problems and make informed decisions to achieve different aspirations,” he said.

He has said that the biggest adventure that young people can take is to never give up on their path to self- empowerment to become the best versions of themselves.

“Meaningful change lies not in the struggle against the past but in the dedication to creating a vibrant future. No one is going to swoop in and rescue us from our limitations; hence, the need for us to be confident to embrace change.
