Young Entrepreneur Turns Passion Into Success

At just 26 years old, Lackin Mwangomba a Mzuzu-based entrepreneur has achieved remarkable success in agriculture and entrepreneurship.

This determined young lady has transformed her passion into a thriving business, employing dozens and inspiring her community.

A graduate of the Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from DMI University, Lackin could have easily waited for employment.

Instead, she drew on her entrepreneurial upbringing and started farming on a single acre in 2018. Her initial rice harvest sparked a vision for expansion.

Today, Lackin owns additional land in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota District and Mzimba, cultivating maize, beans and rice. Her farm employs five permanent staff and 30 temporary workers, making her a proud employer.

She said: “I don’t see the reason to work for someone else. My long-term goal is to establish mega farms, become a renowned agro-entrepreneur and export my produce as well as creating job opportunities for many Malawians.”

Lackin’s entrepreneurial journey began by selling shoes and clothes while still in school.

Her success has brought many benefits, including financial stability, job creation and community impact. Lackin’s story serves as a testament to the power of innovation, hard work and passion.

Isaac Chisi, a Mzuzu-based agro-entrepreneur has expressed his satisfaction with Lackin’s Farm Produce, saying he is a reliable supplier of maize and rice.
